“We Don’t find deeper meaning and appreciation for life in spite of adversity - we find these because of adversity”. - Samson Shulman
Adam earned his Bachelor of Science in Psychology from Eastern Connecticut State University and his Master of Science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Albertus Magnus College. He currently facilitates individual and group therapy with a focus on Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT). Adam has experience working in Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) settings, where he supports clients with a higher level of care as they navigate complex emotional and behavioral challenges.
He is experienced in using DBT to help clients develop emotional regulation, distress tolerance, interpersonal effectiveness, and mindfulness skills. He incorporates mindfulness as a foundation for self-awareness, emotional balance, and intentional growth.
Adam takes a client-centered, strengths-based approach that emphasizes empowerment, empathy, and collaboration. He is deeply committed to creating a safe, non-judgmental space where clients feel heard, respected, and supported. Adam believes in meeting each individual where they are and walking alongside them as they navigate challenges, build confidence, and work toward meaningful and lasting change. His work is grounded in compassion and the belief that healing begins with connection and acceptance.
Adam is passionate about working with both teens and adults, helping them recognize their inner strengths and build effective coping skills. Outside of his clinical work, he is a youth soccer coach who enjoys traveling, hiking, and spending quality time with friends and family. He values balance, connection, and community—both in and out of the therapy room.
