Meet Alicia

"Happiness can be found even in the darkest of times, if one only remembers to turn on the light." -Albus Dumbledore.

Alicia earned her Bachelor’s Degree from the University of Saint Joseph in West Hartford in 2016 and her Master’s Degree in Social Work at Columbia University with an Advanced Clinical Practice concentration that focused on Health, Mental Health, and Disabilities.  Her professional background includes extensive experience in social work within skilled nursing and home care agencies, where she supported older adults and their families through complex medical issues. Over the past three years, she has worked as a Clinician, providing one-on-one counseling and serving as a primary therapist in a geriatric psychiatric hospital.

Alicia’s areas of expertise include individual therapy, group therapy, couples therapy, addiction treatment, trauma-informed care, and a specialty in grief and loss therapy. She utilizes evidenced-based treatments in her therapeutic approach including Solution Focused Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Motivational Interviewing (MI), and the Gottman Method for Couple’s Therapy.

She places great value on the time and effort it takes to build genuine trust and is committed to working diligently to foster a therapeutic relationship that is both beneficial and successful. Her approach is client centered and strength-based, drawing upon the individuals’ strengths and unique experiences. Alicia strives to create a supportive environment where the individual feels heard, respected, and empowered every step of the way.

In her free time, Alicia prioritizes activities that bring me joy and allow her to connect with those she cares about. She is an active member of a monthly book club, which gives her the opportunity to relax, explore new perspectives, and engage in thoughtful conversations. Family is very important to Alicia, and she cherishes spending quality time with her three children and playing pool with her partner.
