Karmen is a Licensed Master Social Worker with an extensive background working with substance use, trauma, anxiety, depression, and complex co-occurring disorders. Karmen has worked with kids, teens, and adults throughout her career. Karmen is an honest, loyal, and empathetic individual who will foster a safe and encouraging environment.
She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Experimental Psychology from the University of South Carolina and her Master’s degree in Social Work from the University of Southern California.
Karmen utilizes a client-centered approach, meeting clients where they are and tailoring treatment to their individual needs while honoring their unique experiences, strengths, and therapeutic goals. Drawing from evidence-based practices and trauma-informed care, Karmen helps clients explore the root causes of their challenges while building practical tools for resilience and emotional well-being. Karmen’s work often integrates techniques from cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), mindfulness-based cognitive therapy (MBCT), motivational interviewing (MI), and acceptance & commitment therapy (ACT) to foster lasting change and empowerment.
Outside of her clinical work, Karmen is dedicated to empowering individuals to recognize their true potential, grounding her practice in the belief that "we always have a choice; since we can only control what we think, feel, and do, let's be intentional about manifesting what we truly want out of life."
