“It is only with one’s heart that one can see clearly. What is essential is invisible to the eye.” - Antoine de Saint-Exupery
With a MS in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Southern CT State University, Victor entered the counseling field with an eye towards working with veterans and 1st Responders trying to cope with the toxicity of their service environmental trauma. Victor has focused upon individual, couples, and group therapies from his internship at the New Haven Vet Center and later practice as a Crisis Team Member with Wheeler Clinic, working with a private practice, and most recently with Community Mental Health Affiliates on their Active Community Care Team and Veteran Support Program. Victor’s prior experience as a police officer and US Army veteran contribute to his developed perspective on the challenges facing these demographics.
Victor works with adults and is focused upon the change possible for those he works with and their choices that either aid in improving their circumstances or prolong the negative sense of their quality of life.
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, as well as aspects of Reality Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy and assisting with family relationships and transitioning from threat environments to recognition and enjoyment of peaceful ones with confidence and independence are his tools and goals for his clients.
Victor acknowledges everyone’s journey is unique, and one size does not fit all. He works with his clients to find the right blend of technique, supports and level of intensity to work at the client’s pace towards the outcome they define for themselves.
Flexibility and focus work hand in hand as clients are able to shift their presentation of concerns as the therapeutic relationship builds trust and understanding across the room in both directions.
Beyond his clinical work, Victor still actively competes in multiple firearms disciplines and when not attending to his household responsibilities can commonly be found working with the latest in a long line of rescued dogs, currently a high energy Chocolate Labrador Retriever who would much rather Vic spend more time in the woods with him than disappear from the home for work.
Victor provides:
